Home / School News / This Week @ Journey May 9-13

Congratulations – We can be very proud of our students, staff and community.  Approximately 100 travelled to Port Alberni – Grades 6-12 and community members.  5 groups performed;

  1.  Junior Band–received Excellent +
  2.  Intermediate Community Band (JMS. EMCS and community members) received Superior
  3.  Senior Community Band (JMS, EMCS, and community members) received Superior
  4.  Community Orchestra Course (JMS, EMCS and students and adults in the Sooke District) received Superior
  5.  Community Chamber Ensemble (JMS, EMCS and students and adults in the Sooke District) received Superior.

Superior is the highest rating.  This means that all 5 groups are invited to play at the nationals for Musicfest Canada which is being held in Niagara Falls in May 2017.  Out of 450,000 students across Canada who play in the regionals, only 8000 make it to the Nationals, so we have done well.   The adjudicators were impressed with our musical community and wanted to come and check it out for themselves.

PAC Info:

Election Time! The next Pac meeting is May 12th at 7pm in the Annie Acreman Library at Journey. All parents are welcome to attend. We will be holding the elections for President and Treasurer at the meeting. All other positions will be up for election at our September meeting. Our first meeting of the year is September 13th 2016 at 7pm in the library.

All parents and guardians with children registered in the school are already PAC members. PAC’s are forums within each school community to discuss matters affecting our school and the education of our children. Parent’s voices are a great value to their school. They offer a wealth of ideas and support in the challenges that face all public schools. We welcome all voices and like to see new faces!

We welcome all parents to attend any of our meetings on the second Tuesday of every month at 7pm in the JMS library.

PAC hot lunch program is in need of volunteers. If you have one hour a month on Wednesday’s to help out please email Ken pacdad2@gmail.com

Please forward any questions to PAC President Teresa Mason   mason92@telus.net
