Exploratories begin this week – Most students have brought back their forms; however, if your child has not brought back the form, Ms. Campbell will be letting them know which choices are still available. Waivers are due tomorrow (yes, there is a lot of signing to do, but we must). Not surprisingly, we record our best attendance on Thursdays; however, some students still try to convince their parents to sign them out. Exploratories are part of our curriculum and students are assigned a work habit mark on their report cards.

Monday

Today begins our Bike & Walk to School Week and the weather forecast looks like it’s on our side! Staff and students are encouraged to walk and bike all week. There will be signs up to remind everyone and students who do need to get dropped off are encouraged to get dropped by the ballpark and walk in on the sidewalk or bike path along the field.

Power of Being a Girl forms are due today for students registered to go to this workshop. Please hand them into our counselor, Ms. Campbell.

Cops for Cancer/Tour de Rock arrive at EMCS @ 2:20 and our grade 8s will be joining EMCS to welcome them to Sooke again this year. Cole Brewer, RCMP officer with the Langford detachment, is one of the riders. Cole lost his own father 5 years ago to cancer. Our very own Daisy Irwin, who is a student at Journey is his junior rider. Daisy was diagnosed with 2 types of Leukemia at 10 weeks old and is always a huge supporter of this cause! Please send donations with your child to the office and we will donate them on behalf of Journey. Cheques should be written to Cops for Cancer/Tour de Rock and a tax receipt will be issued for donations over $20.   The public is welcome to attend!

What Exploratory is my child in? – Lists will be posted in the foyer this morning. Refunds if needed will be returned to your child and invoices sent home if they got into their second or third choice and requires a fee. Students are expected to remain in their exploratory for the seven afternoons.
