APPLIED SKILLS

Business Education

Business Education is an Applied Skills course that all Grade 8 students at Journey are required to take.  In Business Education, students begin to acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to contribute to a healthy society and economy. Students embark on several projects aimed to develop their creativity, increase their knowledge of the business world and to communicate, through both individual and group work effectively.  Throughout the term, students will become proficient using a variety of software programs, such as Power Point, Appleworks, MS Word and others; enhance their internet research skills; creatively develop plans for entrepreneurial activities; learn about financial management and economics; produce marketing and advertising materials; and learn the basics of business communications, in particular effect ive letter writing skills.
