Thursday, September 28, 2023, 10:54am – Please advise an accident involving a Hydro Pole on Church Road is causing a closure of the road between Throup and Wadams Way.

 

Fire crews are currently on the scene and Hydro is en route to repair the pole. Repairs are expected to take the most of the day, so please expect delays.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Church/Throup Roundabout Construction Project, 7am-7pm Weekdays

Tuesday, September 26, 2023 – Ongoing works related to the Church/Throup Roundabout Construction Project will continue for several months.

Be advised: longer delays are expected next week, as utility relocation on Church Road is completed. Please be patient and avoid the area, if possible. Follow posted signage and traffic control personnel who are working hard to keep workers and the community safe.

  • WHERE: Church Road – Wadams Way to Rhodenite; Throup Road in Sooke
  • WHAT:
    • Intermittent single-lane alternating traffic and/or short-term holding of traffic as large equipment moves around the site will cause delays for the duration of project construction.
    • Emergency vehicle access accommodated.
  • NOTE: Families making their way to/from school are strongly encouraged to make use of the Active Routes to Schools, including alternative meeting spots to alleviate some of the congestion in the area.

Affected date(s)/time: June 6, 7, 8, 2023 from 7 am to 5 pm (approximate)

Location: Church Road from Wadams Way to Throup Road

Work Type: Boring in advance of the roundabout construction project

Impact/Instructions:

  • Expect approximate 5-minute delays throughout the day (intermittent disruptions)

Monday, May 15, 2023 – Please be advised of the following planned traffic activity.

The closure times have been scheduled to minimize the impact on those travelling to/from school; however, delays are expected. Please allow extra time while this work is completed.

Public Health Nurses will be providing follow up immunizations for those eligible Grade 6 students that we have had consents returned for. Consents went home in the fall and first doses of HPV were given in November. Those students that are eligible for their second HPV immunization will be seen on May 24th, 2023 at the school. If you have questions about these immunizations or would like to provide consent for HPV if you have not yet done so, please call the Sooke health unit and speak with a public health nurse at 250-519-3487.
